Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he (peace and blessings be upon him) said . . . . . . and he narrated a hadith in which it was also stated: "Indeed, the religion of Allah is straight and easy."
The meaning is that the religion of Islam is absolutely straightforward and easy; there is no crookedness or complexity in it, nor is it difficult to follow, whereas other religions are deprived of these qualities—neither do they have single-mindedness, nor ease and facilitation. Islam, cutting off from all kinds of falsehood, calls solely towards Allah Ta'ala, while in other religions, there is also an invitation towards others along with Allah. Islam provides ease and facilitation, whereas in other religions there is undue extremism, hardships, and unnecessary formalities. Therefore, it is stated that Islam is a straightforward and easy religion. In a hadith narrated from Sayyidah Aisha radi Allahu anha, it is mentioned that one day the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: "The Jews should know that indeed there is ease in our religion, and I have been sent with a straightforward and easy religion."
