Abu Bakr bin Muhammad bin Ishaq bin Khuzaymah says: When I entered Bukhara, my first gathering was with the ruler Isma'il bin Ahmad among a group of scholars. There, several hadiths were mentioned. The ruler Isma'il narrated this hadith: "My ummah is an ummah granted mercy . . . . . ." etc., with this chain: «حدثنا ابي حدثنا يزيد بن هارون عن حميد عن انس قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم . . . . . .» I said: May Allah support the ruler, this hadith has neither been narrated by Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), nor by Humaid, nor by Yazid bin Harun. The ruler Isma'il became silent, then began to ask: How is that? I replied: This hadith is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Musa al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him), and it is based upon him. When the gathering dispersed, Abu Ali Salih bin Muhammad al-Baghdadi said to me: Abu Bakr! May Allah reward you with goodness, this ruler has mentioned this chain to us several times, but none of us had the courage to refute it. Abu 'Abdullah said: In fact, the purpose of the ruler Isma'il bin Ahmad was to narrate this hadith with this chain: «يزيد بن هارون عن المسعودي عن سعيد بن ابي بردة بن ابي موسى عن ابيه عن جده . . . . . .» I say: The hadith of Muhammad bin Bakr bin Fadl al-Faqih, which we have narrated, its chain ends with Humaid from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), and this is the hadith which our shaykh Muhammad 'Abd al-Ghani has extracted in this book in which he has collected the authentic narrations of Muhammad bin Bakr according to the conditions of Bukhari and Muslim, while the hadith of Mas'udi, we have narrated it with the chain of al-Bazzar.

Brief Explanation
Explanation:
In this blessed hadith, the virtue of the Ummah of Muhammad is described, that Allah Ta'ala has bestowed a special favor and mercy upon this Ummah compared to the previous communities. Allah Ta'ala has made the rulings easy for this Ummah, and has increased their rewards; this is not the case for other communities. Similarly, for the believers of this Ummah, there is no eternal punishment in the Hereafter; rather, the individual and collective trials that befall them in this world serve as expiation for the punishment of the Hereafter. Even if a thorn pricks any individual of this Ummah, that too becomes an expiation for punishment for him.
