It is narrated from Sayyiduna Salman bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) that indeed the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Giving charity to relatives is both charity and maintaining the ties of kinship."

Brief Explanation
Explanation:
To give charity (sadaqah) and alms (khairat) in the way of Allah, and to maintain ties of kinship (silah rahmi) with one’s relatives, are both great virtues. In the aforementioned hadith, the method for attaining both of these virtues simultaneously has been described: if charity is given to a common poor or needy person, one receives the reward of charity. However, if this same charity is given to a deserving relative, then there is double reward—one for giving charity and the other for maintaining ties of kinship. Thus, by giving charity to relatives, both virtues are attained at the same time: charity is fulfilled and kinship is maintained. And it is also stated in the hadith that giving charity to a poor person is charity, but giving it to a relative is the cause of two virtues: “charity and maintaining ties of kinship.”
