917 - أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عُمَرَ الْبَزَّازُ، أبنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ جَامِعٍ، ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، ثنا الْقَاسِمُ بْنُ أُمَيَّةَ الْحَذَّاءُ، ثنا حَفْصٌ، يَعْنِي ابْنَ غِيَاثٍ، ثنا بُرْدٌ، عَنْ مَكْحُولٍ، عَنْ وَاثِلَةَ بْنِ الْأَسْقَعِ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «لَا تُظْهِرِ الشَّمَاتَةَ لِأَخِيكَ فَيُعَافِيَهُ اللَّهُ وَيَبْتَلِيَكَ»
Sayyiduna Wathilah bin Asqa’ (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Do not express joy at your brother’s hardship, lest Allah grants him well-being and puts you to trial.”
