Sayyiduna Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “A group from my Ummah will always remain dominant upon the truth; those who oppose them will not be able to harm them in any way, until Allah’s decision comes.”

Brief Explanation
Explanation: From this blessed hadith, it is understood that from the era of the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam until the coming of the Day of Judgment, there will remain a group upon the truth. Just as other communities went astray and none among them remained upon the straight path and the truth, the matter of the Ummah of Muhammad is not so. Although, with the passage of time, people of this Ummah too will deviate from the straight path and the truth, nevertheless, a group will always remain steadfast upon the truth; those who trouble them will not be able to turn them away from the truth.
By "truth" is meant the Book and the Sunnah, while by "group" is meant the Ahl al-Hadith, as has been stated by the esteemed teacher of Imam Bukhari rahimahullah, Imam Ali ibn al-Madini, and other major hadith scholars. For details, refer to our Shaykh Hafiz Zubair Ali Zai rahimahullah's book "Ahl-e-Hadith: A Descriptive Name".
