Brief Explanation
Explanation: From this hadith, it is understood that tale-bearing (carrying tales) is forbidden (haram), and a tale-bearer will not enter Paradise. Conveying the words of one person to another with the intention of causing discord is called tale-bearing (chughli), and it is a major sin (kabirah). In the Noble Qur’an, Allah the Exalted has said regarding a disbeliever: ﴿هَمَّازٍمَّشَّاءٍبِنَمِيمٍ﴾ (Surah Qalam: 11) “One who is much given to slander, going about with calumnies.”
It is mentioned in a hadith that the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam once passed by two graves and said: “They are being punished, and not for something major, but in fact it is major: one of them used to carry tales (commit chughli), and the other did not protect himself from urine.” [بخاري : 318]
Regarding tale-bearing, it is mentioned in a hadith that the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: “O people! Shall I not inform you about the best among you?” The people replied, “Why not (please do inform us).” He said: “They are those who, when seen, remind you of Allah. Shall I not inform you about the worst among you?” The people replied, “Why not (please do inform us).” He said: “Indeed, the worst among you are those who are tale-bearers, who cause discord between friends and loved ones, and who put the innocent into difficulty.” [المعجم الكبير : 423 جزء : 23 ، وسنده حسن]
