Abdullah bin Harith bin Fazl narrates from his father, who said: Asma bint Marwan was from Banu Umayyah bin Zaid, and Yazid bin Zaid bin Hisn Khatmi was her husband. She used to incite (people) against the Muslims, harass them, and recite insulting poetry. Umair bin Adi made a vow that if Allah the Exalted brought His Messenger (peace be upon him) back safely from the Battle of Badr, then he (Umair) would surely kill this woman. The narrator says that (when the Prophet returned from the Battle of Badr) Umair, fulfilling his vow, attacked her in the darkness of the night and put her to death. He then met the Prophet (peace be upon him) and performed the morning prayer with him. The Prophet (peace be upon him) kept looking at him attentively, and when he got up to go to his house, he said to Umair bin Adi: "Did you kill Asma?" He said: Yes. (Umair says) I said: O Messenger of Allah! Is there anything (blood money or sin, etc.) upon me for her killing? Then the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Not even two goats will butt heads over her." This phrase (idiom) was heard for the first time from the pure tongue of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him).
