766 - حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ الْأَذَنِيُّ، أبنا جَدِّي عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ، ثنا أَبُو الطَّاهِرِ بْنُ فِيلٍ، ثنا مُؤَمَّلُ بْنُ إِهَابٍ الْمَكِّيُّ، ثنا أَبُو عَامِرٍ الْعَقَدِيُّ، عَنْ كَثِيرِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ، عَنِ الْمُطَّلِبِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ حَنْطَبٍ , عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «إِذَا أَحَبَّ أَحَدُكُمْ أَخَاهُ فَلْيُعْلِمْهُ»
Sayyiduna Abu Sa‘id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “When any one of you loves his brother, he should inform him.”

The scholars have stated that this command has been given so that when a person comes to know that a certain individual loves him for the sake of Allah (lillah fi Allah), he too will love him in return, will uphold his rights, will pray for him and wish well for him. In this way, love between both parties will increase.
