744 - أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الطَّاهِرِ، مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ سَعْدُونَ الْمَوْصِلِيُّ قَدِمَ عَلَيْنَا، أبنا أَبُو عَمْرٍوعُثْمَانُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْقَاسِمِ الْأَدَمِيُّ قِرَاءَةٌ عَلَيْهِ ثنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ الْأَشْعَثَ، ثنا هَارُونُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْغِفَارِيُّ، ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «أَعْطُوا الْأَجِيرَ أَجْرَهُ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَجِفَّ عَرَقُهُ»
Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Pay the laborer his wages before his sweat dries."
Brief Explanation
Explanation: -
From this hadith, it is understood that when a person is employed for a task and he completes his work, then his wages should not be delayed without any valid reason, because delaying the payment of wages and procrastinating in this matter is a form of oppression (zulm). Allah Ta‘ala Himself will be the claimant against such an oppressor on the Day of Judgment.
It is mentioned in the hadith that Allah Ta‘ala says: “There are three types of people against whom I Myself will dispute on the Day of Judgment: one who makes a covenant in My name and then breaks it; one who sells a free man and consumes his price; and one who employs a laborer, takes full work from him, but does not pay him his wages.” [بخاري : 2227]
