698 - وأنا أَبُو الْحَسَنِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُوسَى السِّمْسَارُ، أنا أَبُو زَيْدٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْمَرْوَزِيُّ، أنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ الْفَرَبْرِيُّ، أنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ الْبُخَارِيُّ، نا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مُوسَى، أنا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ، عَنْ ثَوْرِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ، عَنْ خَالِدٍ، عَنِ الْمِقْدَامِ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «كِيلُوا طَعَامَكُمْ يُبَارَكْ لَكُمْ»
Sayyiduna Miqdam (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Measure your grain, there will be blessing for you."

This ruling pertains to the buying and selling of grain, meaning that when engaging in the purchase and sale of grain, it should be measured. Although purchasing by estimation is also permissible, measuring and weighing it is recommended (mustahabb) and superior. This brings blessing (barakah) to the item. The scholars state that the real cause of blessing is the fulfillment of the command of the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. In other words, acting upon the exalted instruction of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam is a means of attaining blessing, and in neglecting it there is misfortune; the blessing is removed.
