690 - أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الْمَعَافِرِيُّ، أبنا أَبُو بَكْرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ فَهْدٍ، أبنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُطَرِّفِ، ثنا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سَوَّارٍ، قَالَ: ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ نَصْرٍ، ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أَبِي أُوَيْسٍ، حَدَّثَنِي حُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ ضُمَيْرَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ , عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ خَطَبَ يَوْمَ النَّحْرِ بِمِنًى فِي حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ فَقَالَ: وَذَكَرَ خُطْبَةً طَوِيلَةً، وَذَكَرَ ذَلِكَ فِيهَا
Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) delivered a sermon on the Day of Sacrifice at Mina during the Farewell Pilgrimage, and he mentioned a long sermon of the Prophet in which he also stated: "Accept the advice of goodness regarding women, for they are captives with you."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Amr bin Ahwas radi Allahu anhu that he was with the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam on the occasion of the Farewell Pilgrimage (Hajjat al-Wada‘). The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam praised and glorified Allah, admonished and reminded the people, then (during the discourse) he said: Accept the advice of goodness regarding women, for they are in your custody; you have no authority over them other than that if they commit an open act of indecency. If they do so, then separate from them in beds and discipline them in moderation. If they become obedient to you (after this discipline), then do not seek any (further) way against them. Verily, you have rights over your women, and your women have rights over you. Your right over your women is that they do not allow anyone whom you dislike (due to his coming into your house) to use your bed, nor permit such a man to enter your house. Listen! Their right over you is that you treat them well regarding their clothing and food and drink. [ابن ماجه : 1851 ، وسنده حسن]
