606 - وأنا أَبُو سَعْدٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْمَالِينِيُّ نا أَبُو بَكْرٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْإِسْمَاعِيلِيُّ نا عِمْرَانُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ مُوسَى، نا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، نا جَرِيرٌ، عَنْ عُمَارَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي زُرْعَةَ , عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «تَجِدُونَ النَّاسَ مَعَادِنَ، وَخِيَارِهِمْ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ خِيَارُهُمْ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ إِذَا فَقِهُوا، وَتَجِدُونَ مِنْ خَيْرِ النَّاسِ فِي هَذَا الشَّأْنِ أَشَدَّهُمْ لَهُ كَرَاهِيَةً حَتَّى يَقَعَ فِيهِ، وَتَجِدُونَ مِنْ شِرَارِ النَّاسِ ذَا الْوَجْهَيْنِ الَّذِي يَأْتِي هَؤُلَاءِ بِوَجْهٍ وَهَؤُلَاءِ بِوَجْهٍ»
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You will find people like mines (of gold and silver); those who were the best in the pre-Islamic period of ignorance will be the best in Islam, provided they gain understanding of the religion. And in the matter of (leadership), you will find the best among you to be the one who dislikes it the most, until he is involved in it. And you will find the worst among you to be the two-faced person, who comes to these people with one face and to those people with another face."
Brief Explanation
Explanation: -
"You will find people like ears." For the explanation of this, see: Hadith number 196.
By a two-faced person is meant such an individual who, when he goes to one group, makes them believe that he is their companion and the opponent of the other, but when he goes to the other group, he gives the same impression there as well. Such a person is the worst of people. It is mentioned in the hadith: "Whoever is two-faced in this world, on the Day of Resurrection there will be a tongue of fire for him." [أبو داود : 4873 ودارمي : 2767]
