جَفَّ الْقَلَمُ بِالشَّقِيِّ وَالسَّعِيدِ، وَفُرِغَ مِنْ أَرْبَعٍ: مِنَ الْخُلُقِ وَالْخَلْقِ، وَالْأَجَلِ، وَالرِّزْقِThe pen has dried regarding the wretched and the happy, and four things are finished: character, creation, lifespan, and provision

601 - أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عُمَرَ الْمُعَدِّلُ، أبنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ الْعَنَزِيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ يَعْنِي الْوَاسِطِيَّ، ثنا حَفْصُ بْنُ عُمَرَ الْأَيْلِيُّ، ثنا مِسْعَرٌ، عَنِ الْمُنْبَعِثِ الْأَثْرَمِ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ كُرْدُوسًا، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ مَسْعُودٍ، يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: " جَفَّ الْقَلَمُ بِالشَّقِيِّ وَالسَّعِيدِ، وَفُرِغَ مِنْ أَرْبَعٍ: مِنَ الْخُلُقِ وَالْخَلْقِ، وَالْأَجَلِ، وَالرِّزْقِ "
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud, may Allah be pleased with him, says that I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: "The pens have dried after writing about the fortunate and the unfortunate, and four things have been decided: character, birth, death, and sustenance."
