Brief Explanation
Explanation: In these ahadith, a severe warning has been given regarding attributing a false statement to the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam: whoever deliberately attributes a false statement to him should know that he is preparing his abode in the Fire of Hell. Although attributing a lie to anyone is slander and a sin, attributing a lie to the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam is an extremely grave sin because it causes corruption in the religion. Therefore, caution lies in this: if it is not known with certainty that a hadith is from the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, it should not be narrated before people. Only those ahadith should be narrated which are of authentic (sahih) or at least good (hasan) grade in their chain of transmission. Fabricated (mawdu‘) or weak (da‘if) ahadith should never be attributed to the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, nor should they be narrated among people, except in the case where the intention is to inform people of their weakness and falsehood.
It is regrettable that despite such a severe warning, not only the common people but even scholars do not exercise caution; they attribute fabricated and weak narrations to the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam with great boldness. Such narrations are heard which have no basis whatsoever, yet our scholars continue to narrate them without hesitation, and there is no one to stop them. Even more regrettable is that, in support of their own sects, they criticize and reject authentic and reliable ahadith, and conversely, make blameworthy efforts to authenticate and establish fabricated and weak narrations. The entire foundation of the sect is based on weak and invented narrations. May Allah grant guidance. Amin.
The fourth chapter of the book "Musnad al-Shihab" has come to an end, and all praise is for Allah alone, and blessings and peace be upon His Prophet, our master Muhammad al-Karim (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam), upon his family, and upon all his companions, forever until the Day of Judgment.
