Sayyiduna Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever plays Nardashir (backgammon) is like the one who has soiled his hand with the flesh of a pig." Muslim ibn Hajjaj narrated it through the chain of Zuhair ibn Harb from Abdur Rahman ibn Mahdi from Sufyan (may Allah have mercy on them), and in it he said: «فكانما صبغ يده» (So it is as if he has soiled his hand).

Brief Explanation
Explanation: Nardashir is a game that is played by placing pieces on squares made on a board and moving them in a particular manner. Chausar, chess, and similarly carrom board and ludo, etc., are its various forms. In this game, it is generally played by placing a bet, and the loser pays the winner some item or cash; therefore, it is included in gambling and is forbidden (haram). The one who plays nardashir has been likened to a person whose hands are soiled with the flesh and blood of a pig, as if the person who plays nardashir soils his hands with the flesh and blood of a pig. From this, the gravity of this sin can be well understood.
