It is narrated from Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that indeed the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever pleases Allah by displeasing the people, Allah will suffice him, and whoever pleases the people by displeasing Allah, Allah will entrust him to the people."

Brief Explanation
Explanation: The meaning is that when a person, disregarding the displeasure and anger of Allah Ta'ala, begins to give preference to the approval and pleasure of people, then Allah Ta'ala also becomes indifferent to that servant and entrusts his affairs to the people. Not only does He not help him in those matters and does not protect him from the evil and mischief of others, but He even gives people dominance over him, who then cause him harm and oppress him. The conclusion is that, for the servants, the real thing is the pleasure of Allah; if the Lord is pleased, then the world is pleased, and if one does not seek the pleasure of Allah and instead looks towards people, then neither is the Lord pleased nor is the world pleased.
