Hadith 446

Qasim bin Muhammad (may Allah have mercy on him) says that I heard my paternal aunt, Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), say that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever is granted his share of gentleness has been given his share of goodness in this world and the Hereafter."

Brief Explanation
Explanation: -
The meaning is that in gentleness there is nothing but goodness in every respect—so much goodness that whoever attains it has acquired all the virtues of this world and the Hereafter, and whoever is deprived of it is entirely deprived of goodness and left empty-handed. It is as if gentleness is the root and source of all goodness, from which goodness continually springs forth. A person whose nature is gentle will be gentle with everyone; as a result, he himself will remain at peace and will allow others to live in peace as well. Conversely, a person whose nature is harsh will be harsh with everyone; consequently, he will make his own life a torment for himself.

On the Day of Judgment, the heaviest and most weighty thing in the believer’s scale will be his good character, and it is a fact that a person’s character will only be good when he possesses gentleness. In other words, gentleness is the foundation of good character; whoever does not possess gentleness can never have good character—he will be ill-mannered and foul-mouthed, and such a person is never liked by Allah.
