Hadith 424

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that indeed the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever Allah has granted sixty years of age, then surely he has fulfilled the excuse regarding age."

Brief Explanation
Explanation:
The meaning is that the person whom Allah Ta'ala has granted sixty years of age, for him there remains no opportunity for excuse on the Day of Resurrection. If even at this age he could not attain the recognition (ma‘rifah) of Allah Ta'ala, nor understand tawhid (the oneness of Allah), then he will not be able to present ignorance or lack of knowledge as an excuse in the court of Allah. If, despite reaching the age of sixty, his life is still tainted with sins, he is immersed in the mire of disbelief (kufr) and polytheism (shirk), and has not come to the right path, then on the Day of Resurrection, no excuse or pretext of his will be accepted.
