Hadith 369

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with them both) that indeed the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever intends to commit a sin but then abandons it, for him there is one good deed. And whoever intends to commit a sin and then acts upon it, then seeks forgiveness from Allah, he will be forgiven."

Brief Explanation
Benefit:
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas radi Allahu anhu that the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam relates from his Lord, the Mighty and Majestic, that indeed Allah Ta'ala has written down good deeds and bad deeds, then He explained them as well. So, whoever intends to do a good deed but is unable to act upon it, Allah writes for him a complete good deed. And whoever intends to do a good deed and then acts upon it, Allah writes for him ten good deeds up to seven hundred, or even more than that. And whoever intends to do an evil deed but does not act upon it, Allah writes for him a complete good deed with Himself. And if he intends to do an evil deed and then acts upon it, Allah writes for him a single evil deed.
