Brief Explanation
Explanation: - This hadith is narrated with different wordings. For example: ➊ "Whoever introduces into our matter something that is not from it, then it is rejected." [بخاري : 2697] ➋ "Whoever introduces into our religion something that is not from it, then it is rejected." [شرح السنته : 103وسنده حسن] ➌ "Whoever does an act upon which there is no command from us, then it is rejected." [المخلصيات لابي الطاهر : 439وسنده حسن] ➍ "Whoever performs a deed upon which there is no command from us, then it is rejected." [مسلم : 1718] From all these narrations, it becomes clear that there is absolutely no room for innovations (bid‘ah) in the religion of Islam. This religion is complete. Allah, the Exalted, has perfected His favor upon us and has chosen Islam as our religion. He has left no deficiency in this religion that those who come later would need to complete it. Therefore, whoever does any act in the name of religion for which there is no evidence in the Shari‘ah proofs, then that act is rejected; instead of reward, there is punishment, and the one who does so is an innovator (mubtadi‘).
