ثَلَاثٌ مُهْلِكَاتٌ، وَثَلَاثٌ مُنْجِيَاتٌ , فَالثَّلَاثُ الْمُهْلِكَاتُ: شُحٌّ مُطَاعٌ، وَهَوًى مُتَّبَعٌ، وَإِعْجَابُ الْمَرْءِ بِنَفْسِهِ. وَالثَّلَاثُ الْمُنْجِيَاتُ: خَشْيَةُ اللَّهِ فِي السِّرِّ وَالْعَلَانِيَةِ، وَالْقَصْدُ فِي الْفَقْرِ وَالْغِنَى، وَالْعَدْلُ فِي الْغَضَبِ وَالرِّضَاThree destructive things and three saving things: the destructive are obeyed greed, followed desire, and self-admiration; the saving are fear of Allah in private and public, moderation in poverty and wealth, and justice in anger and pleasure

327 - وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو مُسْلِمٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ الْكَاتِبُ، ثنا أَبُو بَكْرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ الْبَالِسِيُّ بِبَالِسَ سَنَةَ إِحْدَى وَثَلَاثِينَ وَثَلَاثِ مِائَةٍ، ثنا عَمِّي إِبْرَاهِيمُ، ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْجَوْهَرِيُّ، ثنا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ، عَنِ الْفَضْلِ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " ثَلَاثٌ مُهْلِكَاتٌ، وَثَلَاثٌ مُنْجِيَاتٌ. فَأَمَّا الْمُهْلِكَاتُ فَشُحٌّ مُطَاعٌ، وَهَوًى مُتَّبَعٌ، وَإِعْجَابُ الْمَرْءِ بِنَفْسِهِ، وَأَمَّا الْمُنْجِيَاتُ: فَخَشْيَةُ اللَّهِ فِي السِّرِّ وَالْعَلَانِيَةِ، وَالْقَصْدُ فِي الْفَقْرِ وَالْغِنَى، وَالْعَدْلُ فِي الْغَضَبِ وَالرِّضَا "
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Three things are destructive and three things are saving. The three destructive things are: miserliness which is obeyed, desires of the soul which are followed, and a person being pleased with his own praise. And the three saving things are: fearing Allah in secret and in public, moderation in wealth and poverty, and acting justly in pleasure and in anger.”
