ثَلَاثٌ مُهْلِكَاتٌ، وَثَلَاثٌ مُنْجِيَاتٌ , فَالثَّلَاثُ الْمُهْلِكَاتُ: شُحٌّ مُطَاعٌ، وَهَوًى مُتَّبَعٌ، وَإِعْجَابُ الْمَرْءِ بِنَفْسِهِ. وَالثَّلَاثُ الْمُنْجِيَاتُ: خَشْيَةُ اللَّهِ فِي السِّرِّ وَالْعَلَانِيَةِ، وَالْقَصْدُ فِي الْفَقْرِ وَالْغِنَى، وَالْعَدْلُ فِي الْغَضَبِ وَالرِّضَاThree destructive things and three saving things: the destructive are obeyed greed, followed desire, and self-admiration; the saving are fear of Allah in private and public, moderation in poverty and wealth, and justice in anger and pleasure

326 - وَأَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ السَّلَامِ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الْمَصَاحِفِيُّ، ثنا أَبُو حَامِدٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ أَبِي الطَّاهِرٍ الْإِسْفَرَايِينِيُّ بِمَكَّةَ، عِنْدَ بَابِ النَّدْوَةِ عِنْدَ أُسْطُوَانَةِ الشَّافِعِيِّ رَحِمَهُ اللَّهُ، ثنا أَبُو بَكْرٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، ثنا أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يُونُسَ، ثنا أَيُّوبُ بْنُ عُتْبَةَ، ثنا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ الْعَبْدِيُّ، ثنا قَتَادَةُ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " ثَلَاثٌ مُهْلِكَاتٌ، وَثَلَاثٌ مُنْجِيَاتٌ، فَأَمَّا الْمُهْلِكَاتُ فَشُحٌّ مُطَاعٌ، وَهَوًى مُتَّبَعٌ وَإِعْجَابُ الْمَرْءِ بِنَفْسِهِ. وَثَلَاثٌ مُنْجِيَاتٌ: خَشْيَةُ اللَّهِ فِي السِّرِّ وَالْعَلَانِيَةِ، وَالْقَصْدُ فِي الْفَقْرِ وَالْغِنَى، وَالْعَدْلُ فِي الْغَضَبِ وَالرِّضَا "
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said: "Three things are destructive and three things are saving. So the three destructive things are: miserliness which is obeyed, desires of the self which are followed, and a person being pleased with his own praise. And the three saving things are: fearing Allah in secret and in public in every situation, adopting moderation in wealth and poverty (both conditions), and acting with justice and fairness in happiness and anger."
