It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that indeed the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "An old man remains young in two things: in the love of a long life and in the love of abundance of wealth."

Brief Explanation
Explanation: -
A human being desires two things the most in this world: ① Long life ② Abundance of wealth.
Every person has this wish and longing that he should be granted as much life as possible and possess as much wealth as possible, to the extent that even when he reaches the last stage of his life, his desire remains that his life be prolonged and that he have an abundance of wealth and riches. Whereas it would have been appropriate that at least in old age he should become concerned about his Hereafter and turn his attention towards improving his Hereafter, but he is not ready to come towards this at all. As life passes, his desires and wishes only increase. He reaches the extreme of old age, but, heedless of death, he remains occupied in the pursuit of amassing wealth, until the Angel of Death seizes him. Allah Ta'ala has spoken the truth:

"The mutual rivalry for piling up (the good things of this world) diverts you, until you visit the graves."

And the noble statement of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam is: "If the son of Adam had two valleys full of wealth, he would seek a third; nothing fills the belly of the son of Adam except dust, and Allah turns to whoever turns (in repentance) to Him."
