Brief Explanation
Explanation: It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah radi Allahu anhu that the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam went towards the graveyard. He said: “O city of believing people! And indeed, if Allah wills, we shall join you. I wished that I could see my brothers.” The Companions radi Allahu anhum submitted: Are we not your brothers? He said: “You are my Companions; my brothers are those who have not yet been born, and I will precede them at the Hawd al-Kawthar.” The Companions radi Allahu anhum submitted: O Messenger of Allah! How will you recognize those people of your ummah who will come after you? He said: “Tell me, if a man has horses with white foreheads and white legs among horses that are pure black, will he not recognize his horses?” The Companions said: Why not, (of course he will recognize them). He said: “Indeed, they (the people of my ummah) will come on the Day of Resurrection with radiant faces and shining hands and feet, and I will precede them at the Hawd al-Kawthar. Listen! Some people will be driven away from my Hawd just as a stray camel is driven away. I will call them: Come here! Then it will be said: After you, they changed your religion. Then I will say: Be off, be off.” [مسلم : 249]
In this blessed hadith, a particular distinction of the Ummah of Muhammad is mentioned: although ablution (wudu) was also practiced as an act of worship in previous communities, on the Day of Resurrection, the shining of the limbs of ablution will be exclusive to the Ummah of Muhammad. Their faces and hands and feet will be radiant and shining, bearing witness that they are people of the Ummah of Muhammad. The Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam will be present at the Hawd al-Kawthar, and by seeing the radiance of the limbs of ablution, he will recognize his followers and give them to drink from the cup of Kawthar. Thus, in this hadith, the virtue of ablution (wudu) and prayer (salah) is also mentioned. Those who neglect prayer, the sinners who have made abandoning prayer their habit, will be deprived of this light.
