27 - أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عُمَرَ الصَّفَّارُ، ثنا أَبُو سَعِيدِ بْنُ الْأَعْرَابِيِّ، ثنا أَبُو بَكْرٍ الصَّاغَانِيُّ، ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ مُوسَى، ثنا هُشَيْمٌ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرَةَ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «الْبَذَاءُ مِنَ الْجَفَاءِ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that indeed the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Obscenity is part of bad character."
Brief Explanation
Explanation— Whoever is reckless with his tongue, uttering every evil and obscene word without hesitation, constantly engaging in abuse and foul language, then know that such a person is devoid of modesty and shame, and possesses nothing of good character. For if he had good character within him, he would use his tongue thoughtfully and with consideration. Therefore, it is stated that obscene speech and foul language are signs of bad character and are a part of it.
