Brief Explanation
Explanation: -
Some people say that from “Allah’s hand is over the group (jama‘ah),” it is understood that it is permissible for Muslims of correct creed to form many groups, various parties, sects, paper organizations, and to be divided into fragments. The response is that this understanding of the hadith is completely incorrect; this hadith only means three things:
① Consensus (ijma‘) is authoritative.
② According to the Book and Sunnah and consensus, Allah’s hand is over the correct caliphate (khilafah) and the caliph (khalifah).
③ One should perform prayer in congregation (jama‘ah).
This is the meaning that is established from the pious predecessors (salaf salihin), whereas the existence of parties, prevalent organizations, and paper groups is, in light of (wa la tafarraqu) and (wa la takhtalifu), incorrect. [اضواء المصابيح : 1/ 275]
