Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "On the Day of Resurrection, every betrayer will have a banner by which he will be recognized." And Muslim has also narrated it with his chain: "On the Day of Resurrection, every betrayer will have a banner according to his betrayal, by which he will be recognized."

Brief Explanation
Explanation:
In this blessed hadith, the condemnation of breaking covenants is stated: on the Day of Resurrection, a flag will be erected for the covenant-breaker in accordance with his act of breaking the covenant, so that people, upon seeing this flag, may recognize his sin.

In one narration, it is mentioned that on the Day of Resurrection, a flag will be planted for every covenant-breaker, and it will be announced that this is the breaking of the covenant by so-and-so, son of so-and-so. (Muslim: 1736)

In another narration, it is stated that on the Day of Resurrection, there will be a flag at the buttocks of every covenant-breaker. (Muslim: 1738)

Among the Arabs, it was customary that if someone broke a covenant, people would erect a flag in front of him at their fairs and gatherings, so that he would be disgraced among the people and they would know that he is a covenant-breaker and thus be wary of him. The Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, in accordance with the custom of the Arabs, also stated this matter and explained that breaking a covenant is not a trivial crime; on the Day of Resurrection, the covenant-breaker will be dealt with in the same manner, or even more severely, and he will be disgraced among the people of the Gathering.
