21 - أنا هِبَةُ اللَّهِ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ عُمَرَ الْخَوْلَانِيُّ، أنا عَبْدُ الْمُنْعِمِ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ الْمُقْرِئُ، ثنا أَبُو الْبَهِيِّ مَيْمُونُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ رَوْحٍ التَّنُوخِيُّ، ثنا يُوسُفُ بْنُ بَحْرٍ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عِيسَى وَالْقَاسِمُ بْنُ سَلَّامٍ أَبُو عُبَيْدٍ النَّحْوِيُّ، ثنا سَلَّامُ بْنُ أَبِي مُطِيعٍ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، عَنْ سَمُرَةَ بْنِ جُنْدُبٍ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «الْحَسَبُ الْمَالُ، وَالْكَرَمُ التَّقْوَى»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Samurah bin Jundub, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Wealth is (a person's) status, and greatness is (in) piety."
Brief Explanation
Benefit: It is narrated from Sayyiduna Buraidah radi Allahu anhu that the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: “Among the people of the world, nobility is based on wealth, towards which they incline.” (Nasa’i: 3225, and its chain is authentic) And in the Noble Qur’an it is stated: «إِنَّ أَكْرَمَكُمْ عِندَ اللَّهِ أَتْقَاكُمْ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَلِيمٌ خَبِيرٌ » (al-Hujurat: 13) “Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you.” In Sahih Bukhari, it is mentioned that the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam asked the Companions radi Allahu anhum: “Who among the people is the most noble?” Then he himself answered: “The most noble among them in the sight of Allah is the one who is the most righteous among them.” (Bukhari: 4689)
