Brief Explanation
Explanation - In this hadith, the virtue of agreement, unity, and collectivity is mentioned, while the condemnation of division and factionalism is stated. The Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam has declared the collectivity of Muslims to be a mercy and factionalism to be a punishment. And this is also the command of Allah Ta'ala [آل عمران: 103] "And all of you hold fast to the rope of Allah together and do not become divided into factions." But alas, we have forgotten the command of Allah and His Messenger sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. Unity and agreement have vanished from our ranks. We have become divided into sects and groups in both religious and political respects, from which outsiders are taking advantage. If this is not called the punishment of Allah, then what should it be called? Today, the cheapest blood in the world is that of the Muslim; Muslims are living lives like slaves, everywhere dominated and oppressed, helpless and powerless. The reason is clear: if we had remained united and held fast to the rope of Allah—that is, the Book and the Sunnah—then Allah's mercy would have been upon us, and the enemy would never have been able to look at us with an evil eye.
Note: In one narration it is stated that the disagreement of my ummah is a mercy. However, this narration is fabricated (mawdu‘). [ديكهئے: السلسلة الضعيفة: 11]
