Brief Explanation
Explanation:
The world is a prison for the believer. Just as a prisoner has no will of his own, is bound by the laws of the jail, cannot do anything without permission, cannot eat or drink as he pleases, nor go wherever he wishes, and is confined from all sides—so too is the state of the believer in this world. Here, he is bound by the will of his Creator and Master. He only does that which pleases his Master. His steps move only in the direction permitted by his Master. Only those words come from his tongue in which there is the pleasure of his Master.

In short, every limb of the believer is bound by the will and pleasure of his Master. Furthermore, the believer is always afflicted by some trial or test, so his entire life is like that of a prisoner. In this sense, this world is a prison for him. However, when he leaves this world, when he tastes the cup of death, he will attain freedom. As for the disbeliever, his situation is the opposite: he is free in this transient world, does not distinguish between lawful (halal) and unlawful (haram), does not consider what is permissible or impermissible, and roams about like an unbridled camel, indulging in his desires at every moment and every instant. This is his freedom in the world; thus, he has made this world a paradise for himself. But when he leaves this world, he will be imprisoned. In this world, the believer is imprisoned and the disbeliever is free, but in the Hereafter, the believer will be free and the disbeliever will be imprisoned.
