1445 - أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْفَتْحِ مَنْصُورُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الطَّرَسُوسِيُّ، ثنا أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مُوسَى بْنِ هَارُونَ قِرَاءَةً عَلَيْهِ، ثنا أَبُو الْقَاسِمِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ خَلَفِ بْنِ قُدَيْدٍ الْأَزْدِيُّ، ثنا أَبُو الطَّاهِرِ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ السَّرْحِ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ لَهِيعَةَ، عَنْ بَكْرِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو، عَنِ ابْنِ هُبَيْرَةَ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا تَمِيمٍ الْجَيْشَانِيَّ، يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: «لَوْ أَنَّكُمْ تَتَوَكَّلُونَ عَلَى اللَّهِ حَقَّ تَوَكُّلِهِ» وَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ
Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) says that I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "If you truly put your trust in Allah as He deserves to be trusted... and he narrated this hadith."
Brief Explanation
Explanation: -
① The reliance (tawakkul) of birds is that they do not store up provisions, but rather, they are certain that just as Allah has provided them sustenance today, He will provide it tomorrow as well.
② Generally, a person hesitates to spend in the way of Allah because he fears poverty and deprivation regarding the future; he should have certainty that just as Allah has provided him sustenance now, He will also provide it in the future.
③ Tawakkul does not mean that lawful means should not be adopted. Birds also leave their nests and search for and eat their sustenance; similarly, humans should avoid greed and seek sustenance through lawful means. [سنن ابن ماجه : 5 /438]
