Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, if the son of Adam has two valleys of wealth, he will certainly seek a third as well." The remaining text is the same as that of the other hadith. And Muslim has also narrated it with his chain from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) in a marfu‘ form: If the son of Adam has two valleys of wealth, he will certainly seek a third as well.
Explanation: - ① Love of wealth is naturally present in humans, in which there are many worldly and hereafter-related benefits hidden; however, exceeding the limits in this is a cause of misguidance. ② If greed for wealth goes beyond the permissible limit, it leads to denial of rights, miserliness, negligence in obligations, and other such evils. Therefore, in order to avoid these misdeeds, love of wealth should not be allowed to exceed the permissible limit. ③ The remedy for love of wealth is that, in addition to obligatory zakat and required expenditures, one should strive to spend as much wealth as possible in the path of righteousness. ④ It is necessary to repent from unlawful love of wealth. ⑤ The meaning of the heart being filled with dust is that a person’s heart is never satisfied throughout life; when he goes into the dust and is buried in the grave, then his greed will end and his heart will be satisfied, because at that point the process of reward and punishment will begin, after which turning attention to the world will not be possible.
