Sayyiduna Mu’adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said: “May Allah keep fresh the person who hears my words and does not add anything to them. Sometimes the bearer of wisdom and knowledge conveys it to one who preserves it better than himself. There are three things in which a believer’s heart never betrays: acting sincerely for Allah, wishing well for the rulers, and adhering to the community of Muslims, for their supplication encompasses them from all sides.”

Brief Explanation
Benefit: Aban bin Uthman says that once, Sayyiduna Zayd bin Thabit radi Allahu anhu came out from Marwan at midday, so we began saying among ourselves: If Marwan has called him at this time, then certainly it must have been to ask him something. So I got up and went to him and asked him this very question. He said: Yes, he (Marwan) asked me about some matters which I had heard from the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. I heard the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam say: “May Allah keep fresh and flourishing the person who hears a hadith from us, then remembers it and conveys it to others, for sometimes the bearer of fiqh (understanding) is not himself a faqih (jurist), and sometimes the bearer of fiqh conveys it to one who is more of a faqih than himself. In three things, the heart of a Muslim never betrays: acting sincerely for Allah, wishing well for the rulers, and adhering to the community (jama‘ah), for their call (du‘a) encompasses them from all sides.” And he said: “Whoever’s concern is the Hereafter, Allah gathers his scattered affairs for him, places richness in his heart, and the world comes to him humbled and submissive. And whoever’s aim is the world, Allah scatters his affairs, places poverty before his eyes, and he receives from the world only what has been decreed for him.” [أحمد : 183وسنده صحيح]
