1398 - أنا أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْغَازِي، نا حَمْزَةُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْحَافِظُ، نا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْقَاسِمِ، نا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ طَالُوتَ وَهُوَ ابْنُ عَبَّادٍ، نا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَهْضَمٍ، نا إِسْمَاعِيلُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ جَعْفَرٍ، عَنْ عُمَارَةَ بْنِ غَزِيَّةَ، عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ عُمَرَ بْنِ قَتَادَةَ بْنِ النُّعْمَانِ، عَنْ مَحْمُودِ بْنِ لَبِيدٍ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ بْنِ النُّعْمَانِ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " وَذَكَرَهُ
Sayyiduna Atiyyah Sa'di (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When a ruler becomes enraged, Satan takes control over him."

The meaning is that just as when someone’s close relative falls ill with a disease in which the use of water is extremely harmful for him—such as dropsy (istisqa’), stomach weakness (du‘f ma‘ida), or any other illness of this kind in which water is injurious to the patient—even if the patient requests water, it is not given to him. This is because the patient’s life is precious, and every effort is made to keep him away from water so that he may recover as soon as possible. In exactly the same way, when Allah Ta‘ala makes a servant His beloved and wishes to grant him success in the Hereafter, He keeps him safe from worldly wealth and riches, status and position, and from everything that may be harmful to his religion and could become a cause of loss in the Hereafter.
