1388 - أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ رَجَاءٍ الْعَسْقَلَانِيُّ، ثنا أَبُو نَصْرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ الْأَدِيبُ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ الْخَرَائِطِيُّ، ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْجُنَيْدِ، قَالَ: ثنا حَفْصُ بْنُ عُمَرَ بْنِ سُوَيْدِ الْعُمَرِيُّ، ثنا عَمْرُو بْنُ وَاقِدٍ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ يَزِيدَ، عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ، عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «إِذَا أَرَادَ اللَّهُ بِعَبْدٍ خَيْرًا عَسَلَهُ قَبْلَ مَوْتِهِ» قَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، وَمَا عَسَلَهُ؟ قَالَ: «يَهْدِيهِ لِعَمَلٍ صَالِحٍ يَقْبِضُهُ عَلَيْهِ»
Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When Allah intends good for a servant, He makes him honey." The Companions asked: "O Messenger of Allah! What is meant by making him honey?" He replied: "He guides him to a righteous deed, then seizes his soul while he is upon it."
