1341 - أنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ، أنا زَاهِرُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ السَّرَخْسِيُّ، أنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ، أنا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ، أنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ، نا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو سَلَمَةَ الْحِمْصِيُّ، وَحَبِيبُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ جَابِرٍ الطَّائِيِّ، عَنِ الْمِقْدَامِ بْنِ مَعْدِي كَرِبَ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: " وَذَكَرَهُ
Sayyiduna Miqdam bin Ma’dikarib (may Allah be pleased with him) says that I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say... and he narrated this hadith.

Explanation:
In this hadith, the habit of overeating has been declared the worst trait. Overeating is the cause of many religious and worldly harms. Such a person remains preoccupied only with eating and drinking, and often he does not even distinguish whether the food with which he is filling his stomach is lawful (halal) or unlawful (haram). Overeating also causes stomach diseases and has negative effects on the heart and mind as well. In any case, eating less is beneficial in every respect, and overeating is harmful in every respect. All physicians are also unanimous on this matter.
