Brief Explanation
Explanation: - The meaning of "za‘amū" is: people think, people say. Some people have the habit that when they want to narrate something baseless, they say, "people say this," or "regarding so-and-so, people have this opinion," and so on. Out of fear of being refuted, they do not mention any specific person's name by saying that so-and-so said this; rather, by saying "people say" or "it is narrated," they spread hearsay and baseless things without any investigation or verification. Just as a person mounts a ride and sets off toward his intended destination, in the same way, by speaking in this manner, a person can go in whatever direction he wishes. For this reason, the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) called it a bad mount and advised us to exercise complete caution in the matters of narration, transmission, and stories, and not to narrate anything without investigation.
