إِنَّ أَفْضَلَ الْهَدِيَّةِ أَوْ أَفْضَلَ الْعَطِيَّةِ الْكَلِمَةُ مِنْ كَلَامِ الْحِكْمَةِ يَسْمَعُهَا الْعَبْدُ ثُمَّ يَتَعَلَّمُهَا ثُمَّ يُعَلِّمُهَا أَخَاهُ خَيْرٌ مِنْ عُبَادَةِ سَنَةٍThe best gift or charity is a word of wisdom heard, learned, and taught to a brother; it is better than a year of worship

1316 - أنا ذُو النُّونِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ الْعَصَّارُ، نا أَبُو الْفَضْلِ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ أَبِي عِمْرَانَ الْهَرَوِيُّ، نا حَمَّادُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، نا أَبُو يَزِيدَ خَالِدُ بْنُ هَانِئٍ الْأَسَدِيُّ، نا أَبِي، نا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْقُرَشِيُّ، نا حُصَيْنٌ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «إِنَّ أَفْضَلَ الْهَدِيَّةِ أَوْ أَفْضَلَ الْعَطِيَّةِ الْكَلِمَةُ مِنْ كَلَامِ الْحِكْمَةِ يَسْمَعُهَا الْعَبْدُ ثُمَّ يَتَعَلَّمُهَا ثُمَّ يُعَلِّمُهَا أَخَاهُ خَيْرٌ مِنْ عُبَادَةِ سَنَةٍ»
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Indeed, the best gift or the best present from wise speech is that word which a person hears, then learns it and teaches it to his brother (this thing is) better for him than a year’s worship.”
