1310 - أنا أَبُو الْقَاسِمِ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْأُدْفُوِيُّ، نا أَبُو الطَّيِّبِ، أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ الْجُرَيْرِيُّ، نا أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ، مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَرِيرٍ الطَّبَرِيُّ، نا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ، نا أَبُو خَالِدٍ الْأَحْمَرُ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ الدَّسْتُوَائِيِّ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَّامٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا أُمَامَةَ، يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: «اقْرَؤُوا الْقُرْآنَ، فَإِنَّهُ نِعْمَ الشَّفِيعُ لِصَاحِبِهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ»
Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Recite the Qur'an, for it will be an excellent intercessor for its companion on the Day of Resurrection."

Sayyiduna Abu Umamah radi Allahu anhu says that I heard the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam say: "Recite the Qur'an, for it will come as an intercessor for its companions on the Day of Resurrection. Recite the two radiant and shining surahs, that is, Surah al-Baqarah and Aal Imran, for they will come on the Day of Resurrection as if they are two clouds, or two shades, or flocks of birds in ranks, pleading on behalf of those who recite them. Recite Surah al-Baqarah, for acquiring it is a blessing and abandoning it is a cause of regret, and magicians cannot prevail over it." [مسلم : 804]
