1254 - وأنا أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ التُّجِيبِيُّ، نا ابْنُ الْأَعْرَابِيِّ، نا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، نا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْبَصْرِيُّ الطَّبِيبُ، نا مُبَارَكُ بْنُ فَضَالَةَ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «خَيْرُ كُحْلِكُمُ الْإِثْمِدُ أَجْلَاهُ لِلْبَصَرِ، وَأَنْبَتُهُ لِلْأَشْعَارِ، وَخَيْرُ ثِيَابِكُمُ الْبِيضُ أَلْبِسُوُهَا أَحْيَاءَكُمْ وَكَفِّنُوا فِيهَا مَوْتَاكُمْ»
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The best kohl among you is antimony, which sharpens the eyesight and grows the eyelashes. And the best clothes among you are white, so clothe your living in them and shroud your dead in them as well."

From these ahadith, firstly, it is understood that the best clothing for both the living and the dead is white clothing, because it is both beautiful and dignified. In addition, any dirt or impurity becomes apparent on it quickly, so it is washed sooner and with more attention, due to which it remains purer and cleaner. In one hadith it is stated: "Wear white clothing, for it is purer and more excellent." [ترمذي : 2810 ، حسن]
Secondly, it is understood that ithmid (antimony) kohl is the best kohl, which sharpens the eyesight and causes the eyelashes to grow. Ithmid is a special Isfahani kohl, which is reddish in color and is mostly found in Hijaz. All praise is due to Allah, for the past five years, whenever the writer has experienced any burning or pain in the eyes, Allah Ta'ala has granted cure through the use of this kohl. All praise is due to Allah.
