1198 - أنا أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ، أنا ابْنُ جَامِعٍ، نا عَلِيٌّ، نا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ، نا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ بْنِ أَبِي نَهِيكٍ، قَالَ: جِئْتُ إِلَى سَعْدٍ فَقَالَ: مَنْ أَنْتَ يَا ابْنَ أَخِي؟ فَأَخْبَرْتُهُ، فَقَالَ: مَرْحَبًا، تُجَّارٌ كَسَبَةٌ، كَيْفَ قِرَاءَتُكَ الْقُرْآنَ؟ قُلْتُ: حَسَنَةٌ، قَالَ: فَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: «اقْرَؤُوا الْقُرْآنَ وَابْكُوا، فَإِنْ لَمْ تَبْكُوا فَتَبَاكَوْا، وَغَنُّوا بِالْقُرْآنِ، فَإِنَّهُ لَيْسَ مِنَّا مَنْ لَمْ يُغَنِّ أَوْ يَتَغَنَّ بِهِ»
Abdullah bin Sa’ib bin Nahik says that I went to Sayyiduna Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him). He said: Nephew! Who are you? When I told him, he said: Welcome, you are a trader who earns a living. How do you recite the Qur’an? I said: I recite well. He said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: “Recite the Qur’an and weep; if you cannot weep, then assume the appearance of one who is weeping, and recite the Qur’an with a pleasant voice, for whoever does not recite the Qur’an with a pleasant voice or does not try to recite it with a pleasant voice is not one of us.”
