1178 - أَخْبَرَنَا سَهْلُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الشُّجَاعِيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ الصُّوفِيُّ، ثنا حَامِدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الرَّفَّاءُ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ الْأَشَجُّ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ أَبِي رَوَّادٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «إِنَّ هَذِهِ الْقُلُوبَ تَصْدَأُ كَمَا يَصْدَأُ الْحَدِيدُ» قِيلَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، فَمَا جِلَاؤُهَا؟ قَالَ: «ذِكْرُ الْمَوْتِ وَتِلَاوَةُ الْقُرْآنِ»
Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, these hearts become rusty just as iron becomes rusty." It was asked: O Messenger of Allah! What is its polish (means of shining)? He said: "Remembering death in abundance and recitation of the Qur'an."
