This narration is also reported from Ash'ath through another chain; he narrated it, and in it is (the wording): "Aisha! Make sure to see who your (milk) brothers are, for suckling is (established) through drinking milk in hunger."

Brief Explanation
Explanation: Rada‘ah refers to breastfeeding, that is, when a woman other than the child's mother breastfeeds the child, that woman becomes his/her foster (rada‘i) mother. Through rada‘ah, all those relationships become prohibited (haram) which are prohibited by lineage (nasab); that is, the biological and foster children of the foster mother become the child's brothers and sisters, the husband of the foster mother becomes the foster father, the brothers and sisters of the foster father become the child's foster paternal uncles and aunts, while the brothers and sisters of the foster mother become the child's foster maternal uncles and aunts.
Which type of rada‘ah is considered valid? In this regard, please consider the following points:
① The child must have drunk the milk during the age of breastfeeding. The age of breastfeeding is two years; after that, the child begins to satisfy his hunger with bread, curry, and other foods, so breastfeeding after this period is not considered, except in some exceptional cases.
② The child must have drunk enough milk to satisfy his hunger. This is clarified in another hadith as five feedings. (Muslim: 1452) That is, the child takes the breast in his mouth and continues to drink milk, and then leaves it of his own accord—this counts as one feeding. In this way, if the child breastfeeds five times, rada‘ah is established; otherwise, it is not.
