1168 - أنا أَبُو ذَرٍّ عَبْدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ الْهَرَوِيُّ، نا أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَمُّويَةَ، وَأَبُو، إِسْحَاقَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ الْمُسْتَمْلِي وَأَبُو الْهَيْثَمِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمَكِّيِّ الْكَشْمَيْهَنِيُّ قَالُوا: ثنا الْفَرَبْرِيُّ، أنا الْبُخَارِيُّ، نا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ، نا أَبُو غَسَّانَ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو حَازِمٍ، عَنْ سَهْلٍ، مِثْلَهُ
This hadith is also narrated in the same way from Sayyiduna Sahl (may Allah be pleased with him) through another chain of transmission.
Brief Explanation
Explanation: -
It is understood from this that in the Hereafter, only that person will be successful whose end is upon goodness (khatima bil-khayr); if the end is not upon goodness, then one will have to face failure. Previous deeds will not be given any consideration; only those deeds will be considered upon which the end occurred. Therefore, a servant should always keep in mind that perhaps this is the last moment, and thus keep oneself engaged in obedience to Allah and remain away from disobedience.
