Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said: "Indeed, the greatest reward comes with the greatest trial, and indeed, when Allah the Mighty and Majestic loves a people, He puts them to trial. Then whoever is content (with the trial), for him is pleasure, and whoever is displeased, for him is displeasure."

Brief Explanation
Benefit: Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik radi Allahu anhu narrates from the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam that he sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: “Whenever Allah afflicts any Muslim with physical pain, then for as long as he remains ill, the reward of those deeds which he used to perform in a state of health is written for him. Then, if Allah grants him well-being, then (that is, the narrator of the hadith says) I think the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: ‘He (Allah) washes him (of sins), and if He causes him to die, He forgives him.’” (Al-Adab Al-Mufrad: 501, and its chain is Hasan)
