Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, Allah will not take away knowledge by snatching it from the people, but He will take away knowledge by taking away the scholars (from the world). Then, when no scholar remains, people will take the ignorant as leaders; they will be asked and will give verdicts without knowledge. Thus, they will go astray themselves and will lead others astray as well."

Brief Explanation
Explanation: - In these hadiths, a sign of the nearness of the Day of Judgment is mentioned: that the scholars of religion will become extinct, and ignorant people will become leaders, chiefs, and imams. They will not possess knowledge of the Qur'an and Hadith, yet despite this, they will assume the roles of muftis and mujtahids, and through their fatwas and self-invented rulings, they will become a cause of misguidance for themselves as well as for others. In this, there is both encouragement to prepare as many scholars of religion as possible, and also an emphasis on avoiding appointing ignorant people as leaders in religious matters.
