105 - أَخْبَرَنَا شُعَيْبُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ السَّدُوسِيُّ، أبنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الرَّازِيُّ، ثنا مِقْدَامُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ، ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ خُثَيْمٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ سَابِطٍ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لِكَعْبِ بْنِ عُجْرَةَ: «يَا كَعْبُ الصَّلَاةُ قُرْبَانٌ، وَالصَّوْمُ جُنَّةٌ، وَالصَّدَقَةُ تُطْفِئُ غَضَبَ الرَّبِّ كَمَا يُطْفِئُ الْمَاءُ النَّارَ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that indeed the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Ka'b bin Ujrah: "O Ka'b! Prayer is a means, fasting is a shield, and charity extinguishes the wrath of the Lord Almighty just as water extinguishes fire."

Sayyiduna Ka'b bin Ujrah radi Allahu anhu says that the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said to me: "O Ka'b bin Ujrah! I seek Allah's protection for you from the rulers who will come after me. Whoever goes to their doors and affirms their lies and assists them in their oppression, then he is not from me and I am not from him, and he will not come to me at the Pond of Kawthar. And whoever goes to their doors or does not go, but does not affirm their lies and does not assist them in their oppression, then he is from me and I am from him, and soon he will come to me at the Pond. O Ka'b bin Ujrah! Prayer is evidence, fasting is a shield and a fortress, and charity wipes out sins just as water extinguishes fire. O Ka'b! The flesh that is nourished from unlawful wealth, the Fire is more deserving and closer to it." [إسناده حسن ، وأخرجه الترمذي : 614]
