1004 - وأنا صِلَةُ بْنُ الْمُؤَمَّلِ، أنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ أَيُّوبَ، نا أَبُو مُسْلِمٍ الْكَجِّيُّ، نا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ، نا حُمَيْدٌ، نا أَنَسٌ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِثْلَهُ
Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said . . . . . . and he narrated a hadith similar to this.

In these ahadith, the virtue of the friends of Allah (awliya Allah), that is, the righteous servants of Allah Ta'ala, has been described: if they swear an oath by Allah Ta'ala regarding a matter—that Allah will do such and such, or will not do such and such—then Allah Ta'ala, out of regard for the oath of His servants, proves them truthful and fulfills their oath. This is because they are honored and respected in the sight of Allah Ta'ala, and their oath is also the result of perfect trust and reliance (tawakkul) upon Allah Ta'ala, not out of arrogance or denial.
This is an incident from the blessed era of the Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. Sayyiduna Anas radi Allahu anhu is the narrator; he says that his paternal aunt, Rubayyi', broke the tooth of a girl. Then people requested forgiveness from that girl, but the people of her tribe were not willing to forgive, and they presented themselves before the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. They were not satisfied with anything except retribution (qisas). Accordingly, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam ordered qisas. Upon this, Sayyiduna Anas bin Nadr radi Allahu anhu said: O Messenger of Allah! Will the tooth of Rubayyi' radi Allahu anha be broken? No, by the One Who sent you with the truth, her tooth will not be broken! Upon this, the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: "Anas! The command of the Book of Allah is for qisas." Then the people of the girl became content and forgave. Upon this, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: "There are some servants of Allah that if they swear an oath by Allah, Allah fulfills their oath." [بخاري : 4500]
