Hadith 1322
1322 - حَدَّثَنَا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ قَالَ: ثنا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، قَالَ: كُنْتُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي سَفَرٍ فَأَدْرَكَنِي، وَأَنَا عَلَي نَاضِحٍ لَنَا كَأَنَّهُ يَقُولُ: بَطِيءٌ، فَقُلْتُ: وَالَهْفَ أُمَّاهُ، مَا يَزَالُ لَنَا نَاضِحُ سُوءٍ، «فَحَرَسَهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِعُودٍ مَعَهُ، أَوْ مِحْجَنٍ فَلَقَدْ رَأَيْتُهُ، وَمَا يَكَادُ يَتَقَدَّمُهُ شَيْءٌ»
Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I was on a journey with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). The Prophet (peace be upon him) came to me while I was riding my camel. Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) intended to say that the camel was moving slowly. I said: "May its mother weep, it has always been a bad camel." So the Prophet (peace be upon him) struck it with the stick he had in his hand, and then I saw that no other mount could get ahead of that camel.
