Hadith Number 1279
Hadith 1279
1279 - حَدَّثَنَا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ قَالَ: ثنا سُفْيَانُ، قَالَ: عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، بِمِثْلِهِ وَزَادَ، فَكَانَ فِينَا رَجُلٌ مَعَهُ جِرَابٌ فِيهِ تَمْرٌ، فَكَانَ يُعْطِينَا مِنْهُ قَبْضَةً، ثَمَّ صَارَتْ إِلَي تَمْرَةٍ فَلَمَّا فَنِيَ وَجَدْنَا فَقْدَهُ.
The same narration is also transmitted with another chain, however, in it these additional words are present: "There was a man among us who had a sack in which there were dates. He used to give us a handful of dates from it, then it came to the point where he would give a single date, and when even that finished, we felt his absence intensely."
